Setting Up Spin to Win (Discount Module)

Spin to Win turns lead capture into a game. Visitors spin a virtual wheel for a chance to win a discount - and you capture their email in the process. It’s fun, interactive, and converts like crazy.

This module is available on all plans, including Free.


How It Works

When a visitor engages with the Spin to Win module:

  1. They enter their email address
  2. A colorful wheel appears and starts spinning
  3. The wheel “lands” on their prize
  4. They see their discount code and can copy it

Here’s the secret: everyone wins the same prize. The spinning wheel is just for show - it creates excitement and anticipation, but every visitor gets the discount you’ve configured. The wheel redirects to the prize screen before it fully stops, keeping the experience snappy.

This isn’t deceptive - visitors came for a discount, and they’re getting one. The gamification just makes it more engaging than a boring popup.


Configuring Spin to Win

  1. Log in to your Viewers dashboard
  2. Go to Configure
  3. Find the “Spin to Win” Module Settings section

Discount Type

Choose how your discount is calculated:

Percent Discount: A percentage off the order. Great for any purchase size.

  • Example: 10% off, 15% off, 25% off

Dollar Discount: A fixed dollar amount off. Works well when you want to offer a specific value.

  • Example: $5 off, $10 off, $25 off

Discount Amount

Enter the numeric value of your discount:

  • For percent discounts: Enter 10 for 10% off, 25 for 25% off, etc.
  • For dollar discounts: Enter 5 for $5 off, 10 for $10 off, etc.

Choose an amount that’s compelling enough to motivate action but sustainable for your business.


Coupon Code

Enter the actual coupon code visitors will receive. This should match a real discount code in your e-commerce platform or checkout system.

Examples:

  • SAVE10
  • WELCOME15
  • SPIN2WIN
  • NEWCUSTOMER

Make sure this code is:

  • Active in your store (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.)
  • Set to the same discount value you configured in Viewers
  • Not expired or usage-limited (unless intentional)

Best Practices

Match your code to the offer: If you’re offering 10% off, use a code like SAVE10 or 10OFF. It reinforces the value and is easy for visitors to remember.

Test your coupon code: Before going live, verify the code actually works in your checkout. Nothing kills trust faster than a broken discount.

Keep the discount compelling but sustainable: 10-15% off is the sweet spot for most businesses. High enough to motivate action, low enough to protect margins.

Set expectations at checkout: Some visitors will try to stack Spin to Win codes with other discounts. Configure your store to handle this appropriately.

Consider one-time use codes: If you’re worried about code sharing, some e-commerce platforms let you generate unique single-use codes. You’d need to integrate this via Zapier or your Webhook API.

Tracking Spin to Win Leads

Leads captured through Spin to Win show up in your dashboard with the module type discount or coupon. You can:

  • Filter your leads list to see only Spin to Win conversions
  • Set up automations that only trigger for discount leads
  • Track performance separately from other lead types

Pairing with Automations

Spin to Win works great with automations:

Send the code via email: Set up an Email Message automation to send the coupon code to their inbox. This gives them a backup if they lose the code and starts your email relationship.

Add to your email list: Sync Spin to Win leads to Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, or your email platform. Tag them as “discount lead” for segmentation.

Fire ad conversions: Track Spin to Win submissions as conversions in Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc. See which campaigns drive discount signups.

Send to your CRM: If discount seekers are potential customers, add them to your sales pipeline.


Frequently Asked Questions

Does everyone really win the same prize? Yes. The wheel is gamification - it makes the experience fun and increases engagement. But the outcome is always the discount you configured.

Can I offer different prizes to different visitors? Not currently. Spin to Win offers one consistent prize. If you need variable prizes, you’d need to build custom logic via Zapier.

What if someone spins multiple times? Viewers deduplicates by email address. If the same email spins again, they won’t be captured as a new lead (and won’t use another credit).

Can I customize the wheel design? The wheel uses Viewers’ default design. Branding customization (removing Viewers logo) requires a PRO plan.

Will the coupon code work automatically at checkout? No - visitors need to copy and paste the code. Viewers displays the code; your e-commerce platform handles the actual discount.

Is this available on the Free plan? Yes. Spin to Win is available on all plans.
