Setting Up the Newsletter Module

The Newsletter module is simple: visitors enter their email to subscribe to your newsletter. No frills, no gimmicks - just a clean signup form that captures emails and grows your list.

This module is available on all plans, including Free.

How It Works

When a visitor clicks on the Newsletter module:

  1. They see a simple email signup form
  2. They enter their email address
  3. They’re added to your Viewers leads
  4. You follow up with your email platform

That’s it. The module handles the capture; your email platform handles everything after.

Configuration

The Newsletter module has no additional settings to configure. Simply enable it in your module selection when generating your embed code, and it’s ready to go.

To enable or disable the Newsletter module:

  1. Log in to your Viewers dashboard
  2. Go to Configure → Embed Code
  3. Check or uncheck Newsletter in the Modules section
  4. Copy your updated embed code
  5. Replace the old embed code on your website (manual installs only - WordPress plugin users don’t need to do this)

Pairing with Email Platforms

The Newsletter module captures emails, but you need an email platform to actually send newsletters. We have direct integrations with:

Mailchimp: Automatically add newsletter signups to your Mailchimp audience. Set up welcome sequences, send campaigns, track engagement - all the stuff Mailchimp does best.

ActiveCampaign: Sync signups to your ActiveCampaign lists. Trigger automations, tag contacts, build nurture sequences.

Both integrations let you select which modules to sync - so you can send only Newsletter signups to your email list while handling other lead types differently.

Using a different email platform? No problem. Use the Webhook API or connect through Zapier/Make.com to sync with:

  • ConvertKit
  • Drip
  • Klaviyo
  • Constant Contact
  • AWeber
  • Sendinblue (Brevo)
  • Campaign Monitor
  • Any other platform that integrates with Zapier

Best Practices

Set up your email integration first: Don’t enable the Newsletter module until you have somewhere to send those emails. Capturing signups without a follow-up system wastes the opportunity.

Create a welcome sequence: When someone subscribes, send a welcome email immediately. Introduce yourself, set expectations, deliver value. First impressions matter.

Only sync Newsletter leads to your email list: In your Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign integration, select only the Newsletter module. Chat or Contact leads might need a different follow-up than broadcast newsletters.

Deliver on your promise: If you say “weekly tips,” send weekly tips. If you promise “exclusive offers,” deliver exclusive offers. Nothing kills a list faster than disappointing subscribers.

Make it easy to unsubscribe: This is handled by your email platform, but it matters. Respect opt-outs immediately.

What Visitors See

The Newsletter module presents a simple, focused experience:

  1. Headline: Invites them to subscribe
  2. Email field: Where they enter their address
  3. Submit button: Confirms their signup
  4. Confirmation: Thanks them for subscribing

Clean and straightforward. No distractions, no complicated forms - just an email field and a button.

Tracking Newsletter Signups

Newsletter leads appear in your dashboard with the module type newsletter or signup. You can:

  • Filter your leads list to see only newsletter signups
  • Set up automations that only trigger for newsletter leads
  • Track signup rates separately from other lead types

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a PRO plan to use this? No. The Newsletter module is available on all plans, including Free.

Can I customize the newsletter signup text? The module uses Viewers’ default copy. For full customization, consider using the Custom module instead.

What’s the difference between Newsletter and other modules? Newsletter is specifically positioned as a subscription signup. Other modules (Contact, Feedback, Chat) collect emails in different contexts. The intent signals are different - newsletter subscribers expect ongoing emails, while contact form leads expect a direct response.

Can I add subscribers to multiple lists? Not directly. The Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign integrations sync to one list. Use your email platform’s automations to copy subscribers to additional lists if needed.

Will duplicate emails be added twice? No. Viewers deduplicates by email, and most email platforms (Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign) also deduplicate. Existing subscribers will be updated rather than duplicated.
